Course Structure

ABOUT THE COURSE

The diploma in elementary education (D.El.Ed) is a two year professional course of teacher education which aims to prepare teaches for elementary stage of education i.e. classes I to VIII. It carries different nomenclature such as B.T.C., J.B.T, D.Ed in different states. The students shall be permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of three years from the date of admission to the programme.

The D.El.Ed programme is designed to integrate the study of childhood, social context of education, subject knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, aims of education and communication skills.

COURSE STRUCTURE

(a) Theory Courses :-
Theory courses shall comprise courses on perspectives in education, curriculum and pedagogic courses. The theory curriculum also includes language proficiency, communication, child studies, contemporary studies and education studies.

(b) Practical Courses :-
Field engagement courses shall include craft, fine arts, work and education, creative drama and theatre in education, self development, children’s physical and emotional health, school health and education.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates with at least 50% marks in the higher secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination are eligible for admission.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination of any other selection process as per the policy of the state government administration i.e. Exam Regulatory Authority, Allahabad and SCERT, Lucknow.
