ABOUT THE COURSE
English (Language & Literature) is a very important subject of undergraduate B.A. course. English language course is designated to prepare students to understand and use the English language effectively, build vocabulary and introduce them to current affairs & issues. Bachelor of art (B.A.) in English is meant for students who wish to pursue a specialized course in English. English is a study of language, literature, linguistics, communicative English & philosophy of English language.
English Literature covers the study of comprehension and writings from middle ages to the 20th century. English Literature comprises lessons on almost all the well known and celebrated writers such as Shakespeare, Milton, Dickens, Chaucer and the list is countless. Literature covers all genre of writing i.e. non-fictional prose, novel, drama, poetry etc.
The Department offers renowned stage programmes such as Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Othelo and king Lear by Shakespeare, Pygmalion and Arms and the Man by Bernard Shaw, The Life of Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, Chandalika by Tagore and the Miser by Moliere.
WHY ENGLISH
English is a global language with great academic breadth in the present scenario. English as a subject is compulsory in every school, college, university showing great significance of English.English graduates may pursue a professional degree i education and become a trained faculty.
After pursuing a Post Graduate degree in English, students can become PGT (Post Graduate Teachers) and can also do a doctorial degree or qualify NET in English which makes them eligible for lectureship in Degree Colleges/Universities.
English students have a lot of career options in many fields such as many government jobs, English Trainer, English content writer, IELTS Faculty, Call center executive etc.
